Mindful Me~ A Personal Journey to Mindfulness
A Mindfulness and Meditation Online Program
MINDFULNESS What does this mean to you?
You are approaching just what this word “Mindfulness” is, with cognizance and remaining in that very moment, you just committed to being in the now and being mindful. See how easy that was and each lesson/meditation only takes a few minutes a day.
More often than not, we see with our eyes, but really do not “SEE”. The expression that we “do not see something for looking at it, a statement that is incredibly significant and points out that not being present NOW and being mindful, we miss so much. More often than not, we truly do not “observe” much of what is around us. The simple things like being in that moment on a walk, noticing the bark on the tree, any markings, Is it smooth? Does it have ridges? Is there anything living in it?
We so often see the tree, but we do not feel or experience the life of that tree. We walk past with a barrage of thoughts, often unnecessary thoughts, mind clutter, being elsewhere in a different time and place, that need to be shelved in that moment. This example of a simple focus of a tree while walking, in that time and space, is a moment in time that declutters the thoughts that continue like a whirlpool. Learning the importance of becoming “conscious” and cognizant in and of our life and in a mere moment can become exceptionally productive for everyone. Those that complain about “mind monkeys” that won’t stop playing in the playground of the mind, the anxiety, depression, and other issues, can benefit from this technique to re-direct the mind, to develop peaceful intervals whenever chosen.
Being in the place you actually are at, physically and consciously observing your surroundings, not within the mind, is a fabulous practice for everyone just for balance. To be cognizant of the very moment you are in, create peaceful moments, regardless of location and whether you are alone or with others. Become present with yourself and your environment quietly and easily.
Mindfulness can be described as the practice of paying attention in the present moment and doing it intentionally and with non-judgment. To…Just…Be…. Mindfulness & meditation practices refer to the deliberate acts of regulating attention through the observation of thoughts, emotions, and body states.
Typical mindfulness activities include:
Mindful non-judgmental awareness of breath, body, feelings, emotions and/or thoughts, (in sitting meditation practice or throughout the day)
Learn simple a mindful walking meditation; mindful eating; mindful body scan in a sitting or lying down position; listening with non-judgment and peace and more…
There are many benefits of mindfulness and can be a powerful tool for people of all ages, including children and teenagers. It can be especially helpful for those who are easily upset or impulsive, diagnoses of ADHD, depression, anxiety or autism. It can help them manage their emotions, reduce stress, and improve their overall mental health. It is also great to have mindfulness techniques to utilze in the moment no mater where we are for everyone!
Here are some potential benefits:
* Improved Focus and Concentration: Mindfulness can help improve attention span, making it easier for kids to focus on tasks at hand, which can be particularly beneficial for those with ADHD.
* Emotional Regulation: By being present and aware of their emotions, kids can learn to manage their feelings better. This can be especially helpful for those who are easily upset or impulsive.
* Reduced Anxiety and Depression: Mindfulness practices can help kids recognize and manage symptoms of anxiety and depression, promoting a more positive outlook.
* Enhanced Social Skills: Mindfulness can help kids become more empathetic and understanding of others, which can improve their social interactions.
* Better Sleep: Regular mindfulness practices can help improve sleep patterns, leading to better rest and more energy during the day.
It is important to note the difference between meditation and mindfulness. Meditation is a practice (action), that leads to increased mindfulness. The more consistent your meditation practice, the more mindful you can become in every aspect of your life, from home to work to relationships.
All guided meditations typically introduce listeners to a meditation technique as well as provide information or instruction on:
How to begin to settle your mind and body for the meditation;
How to position your body during the meditation;
How the mind and our thoughts work;
How to better relate to and understand your thoughts and emotions;
How to incorporate meditation techniques into your everyday life.
